Asheville, NC
We asked Aiden what he wanted to do for his first Spring Break and he wanted to go to Asheville. So, two weeks ago we spent almost a week in Asheville visiting family and playing in the mountains. Here are some images from our trip.

About a month ago I decided that it was time to move back to vinyl. My brother-in-law made this move about a year or so ago and has had fun collecting old records. This is my turntable, it’s a Technics SL-2000. The SL-2000 is from 1977 and although it was a lower end model at the time it’s a really nice turntable today. I’ve got the SL-2000 hooked up to a Harman Kardon HK 3485 receiver and Advent Prodigy Tower speakers. Everything sounds really good and I’ve had fun the past few weeks hunting for records. I’ll post a few more photos after I get the audio tower built.
As you know from the last post Maggie & I like to take the kids to Renick’s Farm to pick pumpkins. The only downside to all you can carry is you end up with too many to carve. A couple of years ago Maggie came up with a solution….just let the kids paint them. Here are the the boy’s painted pumpkins.
These photos are from Lynd Farm and Renick’s Family Market. For the last few years we have been making fall trips to Lynd Farm to pick apples and to Renick’s to pick pumpkins from their patch. Both places are great fun for the kids which is why we keep going back. At Renick’s pumpkin patch you get all the pumpkins one person can carry for $25. I think I was able to carry 11 this year. Enjoy the photos!
This is the Lego Death Star. Aidan has been saving his money for almost two years for this Lego creation. I’ve spent the better part of a weekend putting it together for him and to be honest, I hope I never see another Lego again. This thing has over 3,000 pieces and the directions were almost 260 pages. Anyway, here are some photos of Aidan’s new toy.
Maggie & I spent most of our weekends this summer at the pool with our boys. Here are some photos of our summer fun.
So when I decided to start shooting film again I had a nice Nikon FE sitting on the shelf. I quickly decided that I would need an autofocus camera as well. These three kids of mine will not hold still long enough for me to focus the FE by hand. So I picked this F100 up. The only catch is that I don’t have an autofocus lens to use with it yet.
In June Maggie & I took the boys to her family’s timeshare in Nags Head, NC. I would say that the Outer Banks is one of my favorite places. South Nags Head, where our place is, has retained a the feel of a quant small town. Anyway, here are some photographs from our trip.
Earlier today I was over on NPR checking out recent Tiny Desk Concerts and discovered Chris Thile & Michael Daves. I had already been a fan of Chris Thile’s mandolin playing, however this is the first I had noticed Michael Daves. These two are making amazing bluegrass together. Head over to their website, www.thiledaves.com, to her and see some samples of the music they’re playing.
Maggie & I took the boys to East Harbor State Park over the weekend. This was the first time that we have gone camping with the boys. Levi was a challenge and so was taking photographs with a manuel film camera. Here are some images that I shot with an old Nikon FE and a 50mm lens.
